City & Guilds 6189-57 NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating (APL) is the natural progression route from our 6035-02 City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies for candidates which have successfully achieved the previous mandatory qualification.
You can only register and complete do this course if you have successfully complete your Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing & Heating qualification and have now secured a job in plumbing and heating industry and you would like to progress your qualification into getting a full Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing & Heating and your first JIB Plumbers’ Blue CSCS Card.
This is an assessment programme which will be based on live observations of your practical tasks at your workplace. You will be allocated an experienced NVQ Assessor which will contact you to discuss your assessment plan against this qualification assessment criteria requirements.
Your Assessor will use a range of assessment techniques to assess your skills and competence on your live plumbing jobs, at your workplace. Based on the evidence gathered, you will complete a Portfolio of Evidence which will be then internally verified.

This qualification is essential for candidates which have completed the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Technical Certificate and are looking to become fully qualified Plumbers at NVQ Level 2. This qualification also provides access to the JIB Plumbers’ Blue CSCS Card.
There are no formal entry requirements to enrol for this course, however, you will be required to have fully achieved the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing (or Technical Certificate equivalent). For example: City & Guilds 6129 or 6035, EAL or BPEC. You will also be required to have a work placement in plumbing and heating industry.
This is an assessment course and the duration of this programme will depend on the frequency of your work and also completion of your work-based portfolio.
