Leading Providers of Construction Online Courses via eLearning and Remote Training

As much as everyone, we have been researching and working hard to try and adapt our business to the current climate under the COVID-19 coronavirus global pandemic and try and support our staff and candidates during this difficult time as much as possible.

Led by innovation, we are delighted to announce that we are among the very first training organisation in the country to organise a 5 Days CITB SMSTS course entirely online – with a focus to organise most of our approved training programmes via Remote Training.

CITB has announced on 24th of April 2020 that are allowing providers to organise the Site Safety Plus (SSP) Courses entirely online with a close focus on the quality of the courses delivered, as part of their Emergency Training Provision under COVID-19 (Construction Online Courses).

We’ve been working and consulting with the CITB, and have implemented a unique way of delivering their training by Video Conference Training via Microsoft Teams. This will be easily accessible to anyone as soon as you have a secure internet connection, computer, webcam and a microphone.

As a result of this, we have now invested significant time to research and design bespoke training programmes for all of our training provision, via the same platform.

Currently, we are now delivering the following Construction Online Courses & Programmes online:

• 2 Days CITB Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)

• 1 Day CITB Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS-R) Refresher

• 5 Days CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)

• 2 Days CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)

• Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work

• EAL Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671 (18th Edition)

We’re also looking at how we can adapt our apprenticeship programmes to the current environment and will get back with updates/further announcements.

CSCS to end NVQ exemptions for CITB HS&E Test from 2 September 2019

The CSCS skills card scheme is ending an exemption to the CITB health, safety and environment test following the consultation with its partners including the CITB. Normally, most applicants are required to achieve a recognised construction related qualification (usually an NVQ or SVQ) as well as pass the CITB safety test within the last two years.

CITB health, safety and environment test

If applicants have achieved an SVQ or NVQ within the last two years they currently do not have to sit the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.

CSCS’s Director of Operations Gordon Jenkins commented saying: “ CSCS are bound by the requirements of the Industrial Strategy for Construction. The Industrial Strategy is overseen by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) who, in 2015, announced that all card schemes displaying the CSCS logo should only issue skilled cards to applicants who hold nationally recognised construction related qualifications and have passed a separate health and safety element.

Accepting the recent completion of an SVQ or NVQ as an exemption to taking the test is no longer in step with the wishes of the industry and as such the exemption will be withdrawn.”
